Some of us are guilty of buying anything we like. The if i want it i’ll get it attitude. This is the type of attitude that will not make us save and not being able to plan for important stuff.
So this year i said i’m ready to slap myself on the wrist anytime i even thinking of spending on anything i can’t justify.
So what are the things that make some of spend crazy?
1 – Buying outfits for every occasion – Honestly this is bad. When i was back in Nigeria i dint really do this. But here in the UK, i think its because all the stores i saw in the magazines are now in my face. I get really excited and go crazy, and the funny thing about this is, after buying these stuff, i wear them once and totally forget about them. This is why it is bad, and this year we will not be doing this.
What i intend doing is making sure almost all my cloths are visible because when you have too much cloths and not enough space to spread them out, you can’t really see what you’ve got sometimes which is why we sometimes forget we have.
I will declutter, keep thing that are really needed and give stuff i don’t need to charity.

2 – Eating out – We all know eating out is one of those ways we socialise and have fun. Also, it can be really expensive and wasteful. A price of a plate of meal can actually cook a pot of food that you can eat at least 3 times, depending on how you eat. According to Lisa Young, PhD, we consume more calories as portion sizes are big, and tend to be bigger than our home-cooked meals. There are also temptations for you to try sugary desserts and other stuff.
To really minimise eating out, i’ve visited BBC GOOD FOOD for recipes of things i really like. The other day, i got a recipe for terayki salmon it was so delicious. I dint know i could cook like that lol, it was so enjoyable that i made it again the next day
3 – Cutting down on apps – Yes. In this social media age, you sometimes get dragged into downloading amazing apps that you eventually realise you don’t really need it. You use it for a while and that is it, you are done. This will be a no no.
4 – Block notifications from shops – Haaaleluyah. This was really hard for me because most of the time i don’t really want to buy. I just want to feed my eyes and then i get in trouble and before you know it, another outfit that will be forgotten at the back of the wardrobe.
So what i did was delete shopping apps from my phone and now, they can’t get me no more.
5 – Don’t register your cards on shop sites – If you find it difficult to delete apps from your phone, then don’t register your cards because it makes it easier to buy stuff when the cards are registered online.

Let’s think about this. Before you get up to get your cards to punch those long numbers in and then go to your bank app to verify its you, you must have had more time to think if you really need to buy this stuff and if this stress is worth it.
6 – Buy used – Some people might say eww, but no eww for me. I gotten some amazing hand used handbags on ebay and amazing coats from charity at leamington spa.
This will help you cut down cost. That used coat you’re getting, no one will know it’s used or new. Besides, what’s their business?
7 – Create a budget – Lastly and the most important, budget. If you’re disciplined you won’t overlook your plan. Planning your money helps you work around what you have, what you really need and this is how we save.

If somebody comes to tell you we have a girls trip planned for x day, all you need to say is i don’t think i can but maybe next time because babe.
This is because we’re being smart with our money right now.
I do hope this has helped a bit so, see you at the top.
Until next time,
Bose
